Nominations are now open for the Jamaica Diaspora Advisory Board Members and Future Leaders representing the US West/Mid-West , US-Southern and US-North East Regions.
Nominees must be Jamaican or of Jamaican heritage and reside in the region being represented. Once nominations are received and the nominations period is closed, the list of candidates will be compiled and disseminated electronically across the region and the voting period will be announced.
The electronic process provides transparency and accessibility to the large geographical coverage area of the regions. The candidate with the most votes for Advisory Board Member will be declared the winner while the candidate with the second most votes will be declared the Alternate Advisory Board Member. In the case of the Future Leader, the candidate with the majority of votes will be declared the Future Leader.
The Diaspora Advisory Board arose out of the First Biennial Diaspora Conference held in Kingston, Jamaica in 2004. The seven-member Advisory Board represents the interest of Jamaican Diaspora populated communities in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
This nomination process is critical to the election process, it presents the opportunity for the Diaspora to choose their representative. Please spread the word and encourage your fellow Jamaicans to participate.
