Who is Dr. Rupert Francis:
Head of The Jamaica Diaspora Crime Intervention and Prevention Task Force, Board Member Jamaica Cares Project, Elected Alternate Jamaica Diaspora Advisory Board Member-West Mid-West, USA. Currently Senior Professor, General education: The Art Institute Inland Empire College of Argosy University. Visiting Professor DeVry University Southern California. Former Director Criminal Justice Department, Westwood College, Upland, California.
Dr. Francis current Alternate Board Member for the West/West Mid/West, he has served for the past two years. During his tenure he has been very active in every aspect of Diaspora and he has worked with all Jamaican Organizations to further engage the diasporans. An election promise he continues to fulfill after two years in office. He not only assisted the existing Task Forces: Education, Agriculture, he created one based on the current crime needs of Jamaica: The Jamaica Diaspora Crime Intervention and Prevention Task Force on May 27, 2016 in the U.S. In October of last year he led the Fact Finding Mission to Jamaica to examine the topic of Crime in Jamaica at their own expense. He continues to be self funded. An Executive Report was generated and circulated. Since then the Crime Task Force has assisted the the Security Forces and the people of Jamaica in reducing Crime and Violence; especially against Women and Children. The Task Force spans the entire Diaspora, there are branches in all the major Diaspora Centers in the U.S.A, Canada and the UK and will be fully represented at the upcoming Diaspora Conference where the work of Task Force will be highlighted.
He is a Board Member of Inner Circle Foster Care & Adoption Services, Unified Success, Jamaica Cares Project, President and CEO of Educate the World Consultancy. He is a member of the Jamaica Medical Foundation, York Castle Alumni Association, Jamaica Defense Force Ex Officers Association. He is a supporter of the National Association of Jamaican and Supported Organizations (NAJASO), Jamaica Awareness of California (JAAC), Member of the Caribbean Cricket Club, Jamaica American Association of Northern California (JAANC) He is an active social media user and is a member of various online forums including: Real Change for Jamaica (RCFJ), Jamaica Diaspora Investment Sustainable Initiative (JDSI), Jamaica United Against Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Mission (JUADACA). He also assisted in the formation of the Diaspora Deportation Task Force which he currently spearheads.
Dr. Francis holds four University Degrees: A Bachelors in Psychology & Criminal Justice, a Master’s in Education and Forensic Psychology and a Doctoral degree in Higher Education Leadership. His Dissertation Topic: “What Factors Influence the Success and Enrollment of young Black Males in Art Colleges in California?”. His focus of study was on the advancement of young boys of color in the United States, with the aim of re-establishing the Black Male Role Model worldwide. This became his passion as he saw the disparity among this specific group.
When he is not working, Dr. Francis is very active in several Jamaican Organizations at home and Abroad that are dedicated to the marginalized and the voiceless among us. He is particularly passionate about the role black men play in families and see their absence and influence as a serious threat to black cultures.
His vision for the Jamaican Diaspora:
To help to harness the vast talent that exists in the diaspora for the betterment of all Jamaicans especially the poor and the voiceless. This can be achieved by bringing the members of the Diaspora together as one entity to speak with one voice for the benefit of all Jamaicans; Economically, socially and politically at home and abroad through education. Which he believes will move Our Nation to a first world status in the not too distant future.
Reasons why we should support the candidacy of Dr. Francis, he has proven that he is a keen listener, who has a clear vision for the diaspora and Jamaica, approachable, tireless worker and a clear patriot. He is always willing to help others; especially his country men and he has the requisite years of leadership, communication and negotiation skills, to get the job done. He remains, fearless, committed, respectful and a consummate team player. He has done it before let us help him continue to fulfill his mandate!!!
